About the position

The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public. The Lead Ambassador role is designed to support patient experience and visitor management, impacting department operations and institutional patient satisfaction programs. The main objective of this position is to offer supervision to guarantee the utmost level of patient and visitor experience as part of the institutional Welcome Initiative. This role is integral to the comprehensive guest management and visitor experience strategy, influencing departmental operations and institutional patient and visitor satisfaction. The position requires varied shifts, primarily from 1:30 PM to 10 PM, Monday through Friday, with two overnight shifts on weekends per month. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support patient experience and visitor management.
  • Supervise to ensure high levels of patient and visitor experience as part of the Welcome Initiative.
  • Influence departmental operations and institutional patient/visitor satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • One year of customer service or related experience required; may substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one-to-one basis.
  • Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in foreign language, social science, psychology, human relations or related field preferred.
  • Two years experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Verbal fluency in two or more languages (English being one of the languages) preferred.
  • Certification in adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid preferred.
