About the position

We are seeking a Lead API Test Automation Specialist with a strong background in Agile Transformation. The ideal candidate will have a proactive attitude, the ability to quickly adapt to new environments, and minimal need for guidance. This position is a long-term contract role based in Waterford, MI, and is open to local candidates only. The employment type can be either C2C or W2, but we do not accept OPT/CPT/F1 candidates. In this role, you will lead API integration test automation efforts, developing and enhancing automation frameworks using technologies such as Java, JUnit/TestNG, and Cucumber. You will design automated tests to validate end-to-end application functionality and prioritize automation opportunities based on return on investment (ROI). Your responsibilities will also include creating initial test designs, writing scripts, installing automation testing protocols, and reporting results. You will apply engineering principles to streamline the testing process, identify bugs, and ensure the quality and reliability of solutions. Additionally, you will coach development teams on best practices across various platforms. The work environment is hybrid, requiring mandatory in-office presence on Wednesdays and one additional day based on team interactions. You will be expected to utilize various tools and technologies, including MS Visio, Microsoft 365 Services, JavaScript, Azure DevOps, Selenium, Postman, JMeter, and more, to effectively carry out your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead API integration test automation efforts.
  • Develop and enhance automation frameworks using Java, JUnit/TestNG, Cucumber, etc.
  • Design automated tests to validate end-to-end application functionality.
  • Prioritize automation opportunities for ROI.
  • Create initial test designs, write scripts, install automation testing protocols, and report results.
  • Apply engineering principles to streamline the testing process, identify bugs, and ensure solution quality and reliability.
  • Coach development teams on best practices for various platforms.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in API integration test automation.
  • Strong exploratory testing skills with an understanding of related domains, architecture, and requirements.
  • Passionate about quality engineering and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in debugging and troubleshooting issues in Linux environments.
  • Proactive and robust communication skills to work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of performance testing (JMeter or LoadRunner) and exposure to security testing is a plus.
  • Exposure to Kubernetes/Docker microservices is a plus.
  • Experience in CI/CD pipeline job coding using Groovy scripts.
  • Hands-on experience in UI automation using Selenium, Maven, Java, and Cucumber technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.
  • Exposure to security testing methodologies.
  • Experience with Kubernetes/Docker microservices.
