About the position

The Lead Application Developer - Java Backend at ADP is a hybrid role focused on developing and enhancing features within the Health Compliance program. This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to design, develop, test, and implement software solutions that support a diverse range of clients. The role requires expertise in Java and related technologies, as well as leadership skills to guide a scrum team in delivering impactful solutions.

Responsibilities

• Work within a scrum team to develop and enhance features in the Health Compliance program.
• Participate in daily scrum calls to prioritize and track work.
• Choose user stories to work on during sprint cycles.
• Develop and test code, participating in release activities every two to six weeks.
• Lead and guide projects to success, mentoring junior developers.
• Review team members' work and ensure high-quality deliverables in an Agile environment.
• Collaborate with IT teams for seamless integration with existing systems.
• Present work to stakeholders during sprint demos and other agile ceremonies.
• Evaluate and select software and technologies that meet organizational needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience in application development using Java, J2EE, and AWS technologies.
• Experience leading the design, development, and implementation of front-end and back-end solutions.
• Proficiency in RDBMS such as Oracle and experience with API development using WebServices and JSON patterns.
• Strong debugging skills and knowledge of messaging frameworks like Kafka.
• Experience in writing unit tests and functional tests.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team setting.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with GenAI concepts to speed up the development cycle.
• Experience in full stack Java development.
