About the position

The Lead Application Developer at Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA) is responsible for leading a team of developers in the design, development, coding, testing, and debugging of applications that are crucial to the organization's success. This role emphasizes mentorship, adherence to technology standards, and the promotion of best practices in the software development life cycle. The Lead Developer will manage complex projects, ensuring high-quality product delivery while fostering collaboration and innovation within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of developers in the design, development, coding, testing, and debugging of applications.
  • Mentor and teach other developers, promoting technology standards and best practices.
  • Manage complex projects to ensure high-quality product delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including internal project teams and business analysts.
  • Oversee the Agile development process, managing user stories, backlog, and sprints.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in software development with a proven track record of delivering scalable digital products.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience in a development team.
  • Hands-on experience with complex software product delivery in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as Blazor, C#, .NET, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with API management systems like Apigee and Informatica, as well as REST API design and implementation.
  • Experience with Azure and/or AWS public cloud technology stack.
  • Knowledge of container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with continuous integration and build automation tools such as Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Knowledge of the Insurance or Finance industry.
