About the position

ADP is seeking a Lead Application Developer to join their OneTax program in Pasadena, CA. This role involves working within a scrum team to design, develop, test, and implement solutions for both internal and external clients. The Lead Developer will leverage their expertise in COBOL and other technologies to guide projects, mentor junior developers, and ensure successful delivery of software solutions.

Responsibilities

• Work within a scrum team to prioritize and track work through daily scrum calls.
• Design, develop, test, and implement software solutions that support a range of clients.
• Lead and guide projects to success while mentoring junior developers.
• Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint demos and planning sessions.
• Review team members' work to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to define project requirements.
• Engage in release activities every three weeks, ensuring smooth deployment of solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in application development using COBOL, JCL, SQL, Insync, API, CICS, SPUFI, QMF.
• Experience functioning as a Team Lead in a development environment.
• Proficiency in RDBMS such as DB2 or Oracle and NoSQL databases like Mongo or DynamoDB.
• Strong debugging skills and experience with messaging frameworks like Kafka.
• Experience developing APIs following WebServices and JSON patterns.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Agile methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience with public cloud providers such as AWS or Azure.
• Familiarity with functional programming and software design patterns.
• Hands-on interest in current technology trends and GenAI concepts.
