The Lead Application Engineer for the Power Portfolio Power Conversion category is a customer-facing role responsible for winning business in medium-sized sales territories. This position operates with a degree of autonomy while adhering to well-defined commercial policies and standards of acceptability, which typically include annual volume, margin, and compliance requirements. The engineer will provide technical expertise and develop tailored technical solutions for Medium Voltage Variable Speed Drive Systems across various industries, including Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Metals, Power, and Mining. This role is integral to the Inquiry To Order (tendering) process and requires close collaboration with the commercial team. In this position, the engineer will deliver high-quality technical proposals that include comments and exceptions to customer specifications, ensuring that the proposals are compliant, effective, and cost-competitive. The proposals must clearly articulate the value GE brings to the customer and demonstrate how GE meets their specification requirements. The engineer will also support the sales team by promoting GE's solutions and presenting the product portfolio, highlighting its value additions to customers. A successful candidate will possess a basic understanding of relevant markets and key critical-to-quality (CTQ) factors that influence bid success. They should be knowledgeable about best practices in the industry and aware of competitive offerings and differentiators. The role requires the ability to use judgment and propose innovative solutions to complex problems that may arise in projects, product lines, markets, sales processes, or customer interactions. The engineer must prioritize information effectively for decision-making and utilize technical experience and analytical thinking to drive proposal preparation with minimal guidance.
