About the position

The Lead Application Engineer is a pivotal role within Ansys, responsible for delivering exceptional support to customers and channel partners in utilizing our advanced simulation products. This position is integral to enhancing customer productivity and satisfaction, particularly within the Semiconductor Business Unit (SCBU). The Lead Application Engineer will leverage their extensive knowledge and relationships to drive growth in our software business, aligning with the corporate vision and performance expectations. This role requires a deep understanding of various technical domains, including RTL design, power analysis, functional verification, and high-speed VLSI design, among others. The engineer will apply their expertise to solve complex problems in System-on-Chip (SoC) designs, ensuring that customers can effectively utilize our tools to achieve their design goals. In addition to providing product support, the Lead Application Engineer will take ownership of strategic accounts and initiatives, ensuring that customer needs are met with precision. Training customers on the effective use of SCBU products is a key responsibility, aimed at increasing their proficiency and independence. The engineer will also play a crucial role in business development by understanding customer workflows and technical needs, communicating opportunities to the sales team, and demonstrating new solutions that align with the ANSYS vision. Collaboration with sales teams is essential, as the Lead Application Engineer will assist in showcasing the value of ANSYS products to prospective customers. This includes running product evaluations and benchmarks, as well as holding progress update meetings with customers to ensure alignment and satisfaction. Mentorship of junior application engineers is also a vital aspect of this role, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and technical excellence within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Support customers promptly and effectively to improve productivity and satisfaction with SCBU simulation products, particularly in Power, Power Integrity, and Reliability.
  • Apply knowledge in RTL and Gate level design for power analysis and reduction, functional verification, emulation, logic synthesis, and more to solve SoC problems.
  • Take ownership of strategic accounts and business/technology initiatives to meet tactical business needs.
  • Train customers on the usage of SCBU products to enhance their proficiency and independence.
  • Improve understanding of customer workflows and communicate new opportunities and risks to Sales.
  • Demonstrate the value of ANSYS vision and software to sales prospects to grow sales volume in existing markets.
  • Assist in running product evaluations and benchmarks for prospective customers.
  • Hold progress update meetings with global and local customers.
  • Mentor local or remote AE team using tool knowledge and domain expertise.

Requirements

  • Minimum BSEE with 6 years of experience, MSEE with 4 years of experience, or PhD in Electrical Engineering with 2 years of experience in VLSI design.
  • Experience with EDA tools in low-power digital design, SOC methodology, RTL design, functional verification, and more.
  • Demonstrated domain expertise in front-end design flows and methodologies.
  • Expertise in HDLs including Verilog, VHDL, and System Verilog.
  • Proficiency in UNIX operating systems and scripting using Perl and TCL.
  • Knowledge of IC/ASIC design flow from RTL to GDS.
  • Outstanding customer interaction, written and verbal communication, and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • MSEE is preferred.
  • Record of independent time and project management, meeting objectives and deadlines with no supervision.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse staff across multiple regions and departments.
  • Competency in general office software applications such as mail tools, document editors, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Local language and English skills, as required.
