About the position

The Lead Application Engineer at Eaton's Electrical Engineering & Services division is responsible for leading technical proposal development and providing application support for power distribution in the Houston region and beyond. This role involves collaborating with sales teams, channel partners, and customers to deliver tailored solutions, enhance proposal efficiency, and support project execution while mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical proposal/bid package development and provide power distribution application support.
  • Respond to requests from North American sales, channel partners, and reps across various segments.
  • Offer detailed project specification analysis and lead pricing development.
  • Provide construction estimating and engage third-party vendors.
  • Support complex proposals related to large turnkey projects.
  • Provide unique solutions beyond standard specifications to enhance customer value.
  • Support Eaton equipment application engineers in influencing customer specifications.
  • Lead project hand-off activities and capture extras on projects.
  • Attend and lead customer presentations and promote engineering services.
  • Contribute to the digital development and standardization of pricing models and processes.
  • Support continuous sales growth and assist with sales leads from other areas.
  • Visit job sites to enhance understanding of Eaton products and solutions.
  • Support division-wide initiatives and new offering development.
  • Review contract terms and conditions.
  • Track and report monthly proposal activities.
  • Support and mentor junior team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or military experience with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or a High School Diploma/GED with 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer registration.
  • Power distribution field experience in servicing and maintaining electrical power distribution equipment.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting, tests, and repair techniques.
  • Experience with pricing and proposal generation in the electrical industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially in technical contexts.
  • Advanced understanding of competitor products and services.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions related to electrical equipment.
  • Experience in developing customer relationships for long-term satisfaction.
  • Experience with subcontractor work scopes and agreements.
  • Risk evaluation and management experience.
  • Estimating experience in substation and electrical system installations.
