About the position

The Lead Application Engineer at Eaton's Electrical Engineering & Services division is responsible for leading technical proposal development and providing application support for power distribution in the Albuquerque and El Paso regions. This role involves collaborating with sales teams, channel partners, and customers to deliver tailored solutions, manage project specifications, and enhance customer satisfaction through effective communication and technical expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical proposal/bid package development for power distribution applications.
  • Respond to requests from North American sales, channel partners, and representatives across various segments.
  • Conduct detailed project specification analysis and lead pricing development.
  • Provide construction estimating and engage third-party vendors for project support.
  • Support complex proposals related to large turnkey projects.
  • Offer unique solutions beyond standard specifications to enhance customer value.
  • Support Eaton equipment application engineers in influencing customer specifications.
  • Lead project hand-off activities and capture additional project requirements.
  • Attend and lead customer presentations and promote engineering services.
  • Contribute to the digital development of pricing models and quotation tools.
  • Support continuous sales growth and assist with sales leads from other regions.
  • Visit job sites to enhance understanding of Eaton products and solutions.
  • Support division-wide initiatives and new offering development.
  • Review contract terms and conditions.
  • Track and report monthly proposal activities.
  • Mentor junior team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or military experience with a minimum of 3 years in field service/proposal generation in the electrical industry, or a high school diploma/GED with 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer registration.
  • Power distribution field experience in servicing and testing electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting and repair techniques.
  • Experience in pricing and proposal generation in the electrical industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially in technical contexts.
  • Advanced understanding of competitor products and services.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions for electrical equipment.
  • Experience in developing customer relationships for long-term satisfaction.
  • Experience with subcontractor agreements and GSA purchasing procedures.
  • Risk evaluation and management experience.
  • Estimating experience in substation and electrical system installations.
