About the position

The Lead Architect - Cloud AI/ML/Software Solution Architect role at Highmark Health is a fully remote position focused on developing innovative AI solutions for enterprise stakeholders. The architect will collaborate with data scientists and engineers to integrate AI services into products and workflows, design scalable architectures, and create detailed design plans for AI and ML solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AI/ML principles, cloud computing, and software development, with a commitment to staying updated on the latest advancements in AI technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic consultation to business customers in defining business processes and organizational structures.
• Facilitate the development of complex enterprise business solutions by combining knowledge of business processes and technological options.
• Specify and design large or complex systems, ensuring effective application of design standards and methods.
• Lead reviews of system designs to ensure appropriate technology selection and resource efficiency.
• Use tools to develop complex architectures and produce detailed component requirements and specifications.
• Identify and lead significant improvement programs to achieve measurable business benefits.
• Resolve architecture and business problems, serving as a technical or business lead for complex projects.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and manage customer expectations.
• Participate in customer and technical walkthroughs, problem resolution, and decision-making processes.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of technical aspects in the area of expertise and provide expert advice.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or a closely related field.
• 7 years of experience in an IT discipline.
• 7 years of experience in a Business discipline.
• 4+ years of experience in software architecture, system design, and solution development (preferred).
• 3+ years of experience designing and implementing AI/ML or software solutions on platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (preferred).
• Experience integrating workstreams across Data Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, and DevSecOps (preferred).
• Familiarity with LLM orchestration tools and agile development methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree (preferred).
• Cloud Service Provider Solution Architect Certification (preferred).
• Experience with LLMs as a service and RAG based applications.
• Ability to think creatively and collaborate to apply AI to solve business problems.
