About the position

The Lead Architect - Cloud AI/ML/Software Solution Architect role at Highmark Health is a fully remote position focused on developing innovative AI solutions for enterprise stakeholders. The architect will collaborate with data scientists and engineers to integrate AI services into products and workflows, ensuring scalable and production-ready solutions. The position requires a strong understanding of AI/ML principles, cloud computing, and software development best practices, with an emphasis on research and development in the healthcare technology space.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic consultation to business customers in defining or designing business processes and organizational structures.
• Facilitate the development of complex enterprise business solutions by combining knowledge of business processes and technological options.
• Lead enterprise strategy development, including environmental analysis and opportunity identification.
• Specify and design complex systems, solutions, and processes, ensuring effective application of design standards and methods.
• Lead reviews of system designs to ensure appropriate technology selection and resource efficiency.
• Establish policies for architecture component selection and evaluate major design options.
• Use tools to contribute to the development of complex architectures and produce detailed component requirements.
• Provide advice on technical aspects of system development and integration processes.
• Identify and lead significant improvement programs to achieve measurable business benefits.
• Lead the resolution of architecture and business problems and serve as a technical lead for complex projects.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and manage expectations of stakeholders.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of technical aspects in the area of expertise and provide expert advice.
• Provide leadership and mentoring in architecture to peers and business users.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or closely related field.
• 7 years in an IT discipline.
• 7 years in a Business discipline.
• 4+ years of experience in software architecture, system design, and solution development.
• 3+ years of experience designing and implementing AI/ML or software solutions on platforms like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.
• Experience integrating workstreams across Data Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, DevSecOps, and security and privacy.
• Knowledge in building applications leveraging LLMs as a service.
• Familiarity with LLM orchestration tools and agile development methodologies.
• Ability to creatively apply AI to solve business problems and address complex software architecture challenges.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

• Cloud Service Provider Solution Architect Certification (AWS, Azure, GCP).
