About the position

The Lead Audio Visual Technology Specialist III at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies is responsible for providing advanced technical leadership for the Audio Visual Integration and support team. This role involves servicing and leading projects that require high levels of functional integration, engineering, and IT support, while also contributing individual skills and expertise to help the team achieve its objectives. The position is in-person and full-time, focusing on audio and video services across multiple campuses.

Responsibilities

  • Provides Audio and Video recording, editing, captioning and streaming services and support for multiple campuses.
  • Participates in the build, configuration and documentation of the design, engineering and upgrading of audio visual equipment and integrates technology into campus facilities and learning spaces (virtual and hybrid).
  • Understands multiple technologies in Video conferencing, touch panel coding, and network device management.
  • Provides leadership and coaching to students of AVTS to ensure effective and consistent technical expertise and excellent customer service.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and develops support systems and services as part of a team-based group.
  • Coordinates with clients on recommendation, purchase, placement, integration, and ensures functionality of projectors, lighting, microphones, sound mixing, recording and video-conferencing equipment for live events and meetings.
  • Ensures external user and internal documentation are accurate and comprehensive, researching and publishing solutions to new technical problems as documentation article ideas.
  • Communicates effectively with other work areas to ensure optimal productivity and service to partners, users, and the institution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with broad liberal arts knowledge, including one computer or AV certification.
  • Extensive working knowledge of audio/visual equipment.
  • Broad knowledge of computer hardware, mobile device hardware, operating systems, networking, and applications.
  • Working knowledge in a wide range of settings, including classroom maintenance and support, events support and video editing.
  • Administration and knowledge of AMX, Extron and Crestron control systems required.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a customer service role, preferably in a Multimedia and information services setting.
  • Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical personnel in a results and customer-service-oriented manner is essential.
  • Ability to work successfully in a team-oriented environment, responding to rapidly changing demands.
