About the position

As the Lead Resident Automation Technician, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing a team of technicians responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automation equipment within a cutting-edge Warehouse and Distribution Center for Lowes. This position is based in either Statesville, NC, or Pittston, PA, and operates on a weekend shift schedule, requiring you to work from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM from Friday to Sunday. Your leadership will be essential in ensuring that the automation systems function efficiently and effectively, directly impacting the operational success of the facility. In this role, you will act as the primary liaison between the customer and the company, addressing both automation and personnel matters. Your responsibilities will include managing incidents, identifying training needs, coordinating shift work, approving timecards, and responding to time-off requests. You will also attend customer meetings to ensure alignment on operational goals and expectations. You will coordinate and oversee maintenance activities related to automated equipment, including conveyors, cranes, shuttles, scale checks, and carton-opening systems. This will involve providing hands-on assistance with maintenance tasks, leading efforts to resolve complex technical issues, and communicating maintenance activities to the customer as necessary. Your ability to resolve customer equipment issues promptly and effectively will be crucial, as will your skills in performing root cause analyses to drive issues to resolution. Additionally, you will assign work orders to your team, monitor the completion of tasks, and assist as needed. Maintaining the site spare parts inventory and collaborating with the customer to ensure adequate spare parts are available will also be part of your responsibilities. You will drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize automation efficiency and performance, ensuring that contracted KPIs are met. Building and maintaining positive working relationships with the customer will be key to your success in this role, as will ensuring compliance with all health and safety guidelines and regulations. Furthermore, you will collaborate with the broader company Lifetime Services team to document and communicate issues and lessons learned, contributing to the overall improvement of service delivery.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Good hands-on experience with industrial and material handling equipment.
  • Experience with automation and control systems and software.
  • Familiarity with HMI and SCADA systems.
  • Experience with PLC and automation troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of Profibus and/or Profinet.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Experience handling high-stress scenarios requiring advanced interpersonal skills and conflict resolution techniques.

  • Experience in a Warehouse or Distribution Center environment.
