About the position

The Lead AV Technician is responsible for overseeing the operation, setup, and maintenance of all audiovisual equipment used during services, events, and other church activities. This role ensures that the technical aspects of worship, including sound, video, lighting, and media, run smoothly, enhancing the worship experience and facilitating communication. The Lead AV Technician works closely with the worship team, pastoral staff, volunteers, and other church personnel to provide a high-quality, distraction-free experience for the congregation.

Responsibilities

  • Attend praise team rehearsal on Thursday evenings from 6PM - 8PM.
  • Prepare for Sunday morning sound check prior to 9AM.
  • Evaluate the status of the audio/visual equipment and reconfigure as needed.
  • Check and replace batteries in wireless microphones and other equipment as needed.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other staff and worship team members to produce the service/special event as planned.
  • Understand translation and video cues to minimize distractions during the worship service.
  • Set up and install equipment such as microphones, speakers, video screening, projectors, video/audio monitors, recording equipment, sound board, mixing board, wires, cables, etc.
  • Monitor/mix sound feed to ensure quality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues and media system problems.
  • Proficiently record live sound and use video equipment to record and edit video.
  • Operate the video streaming system to broadcast Sunday services and other relevant events online.
  • Clean audio and video equipment, and store properly.
  • Secure all iPads, wireless mics, etc. in the AV booth at the end of practices and services.
  • Create an online version of the sermon.
  • Assist other committees with their video needs.
  • Train volunteers and create a team to help on Sundays and throughout the week.

Requirements

  • Strong interest and experience in media production.
  • Experience and training in studio and field production including lighting, audio, and camera work.
  • Experience and training in post-production work including non-linear editing, compositing, and motion graphic design is a plus.
  • Proven ability to take projects from beginning to end (concept to production to final edit).
  • Action-oriented and displays focus, passion, and initiative.
  • Effective visual, written, and oral communicator.
  • Familiar with the Presonus Studio Live 3 64S Mixer board.
  • Familiar with Universal Control (UC) Surface Software.
  • Familiar with Capture Software (Software to capture audio waveforms).
  • Experience with Logic Recording Software (DAW Software).
  • Experience with Blackmagic ATEM Mini Extreme ISO Controller.
  • Experience with Romaji Controller.
  • Experience with Pro Presenter.
