About the position

The Lead AWS Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing secure AWS-based solutions for the SAMHSA client. This role involves leading tasks related to Zero Trust Architecture, endpoint protection, and CI/CD pipeline security while ensuring compliance with NIST standards. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop secure cloud architectures and provide technical leadership throughout the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure AWS-based solutions.
• Lead continuous monitoring and security operations for AWS cloud solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop secure and scalable cloud architectures.
• Architect and implement IAM solutions in compliance with NIST standards.
• Perform risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate vulnerabilities.
• Select and configure AWS services and tools in alignment with NIST compliance guidelines.
• Stay current with AWS updates and NIST regulatory changes, advising teams on compliance adjustments.
• Define and document system requirements and design specifications to meet NIST compliance needs.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to project teams.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of cloud security engineering experience within an AWS environment.
• In-depth knowledge of AWS cloud services and infrastructure.
• Experience with NIST compliance and relevant frameworks.
• Strong understanding of IAM principles and tools.
• Demonstrated expertise in cloud security practices.
• Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and devising risk mitigation strategies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CISSP, or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

• AWS DevSecOps Engineer certification.
