About the position

The Lead Azure Data Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing robust, scalable, and secure data solutions on the Azure platform. This role requires a deep understanding of Azure's data services ecosystem, including Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Databricks. The engineer will architect solutions that effectively manage the volume, velocity, and variety of data while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies. A strong grasp of cloud security principles and practices is essential, as is the ability to support both real-time and batch processing in data architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable and secure data solutions on Azure.
• Architect data solutions that handle large volumes of data efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
• Utilize Azure's data services such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Databricks.
• Implement cloud security principles and practices, including Azure Active Directory and encryption services.
• Build and maintain data architecture for real-time and batch processing.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering roles.
• Experience with various project delivery methodologies (Waterfall, Iterative, Agile).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated facilitation and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently in high-priority situations.
• Understanding of business case justification methodology for process improvements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Detail-oriented and organized with strong interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent work experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Utility background preferred but not required.
• ITIL v3 or v4 certification is a plus.
