About the position

The Lead Azure Data Engineer will play a crucial role in consulting on complex software engineering initiatives, focusing on large-scale planning and problem-solving. This position requires a deep understanding of software development principles, data management, and cloud technologies, particularly within the Azure ecosystem. The engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data warehouse solutions while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and maintaining high data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning for Software Engineering.
• Review and analyze complex multi-faceted Software Engineering challenges.
• Contribute to the resolution of complex situations requiring a solid understanding of policies and compliance requirements.
• Strategically collaborate and consult with client personnel.
• Design, develop, test, and implement new or modified applications software.
• Optimize data warehouse performance, including query optimization and index creation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience or equivalent through work, consulting, training, military experience, or education.
• Strong understanding of relational database concepts, SQL, and data modeling.
• Proficiency in ETL tools like Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, or Microsoft SSIS.
• Ability to design and implement data warehouse data models.
• Expert in data integration techniques and data quality processes.
• Proficient in scripting languages like Python, Perl, or Shell scripting.
• Understanding of data security principles and compliance regulations.
• Experience in Azure Storage Containers, Key Vault, Log Analytics, and Synapse.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, or Apache Kafka.
• Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI.
• Familiarity with other Azure services like Azure Data Lake Storage and Azure Databricks.
