About the position

The Test Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the functionality, reliability, and user experience of software developed for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This position involves rigorous testing of software through both automated and manual processes, collaborating with developers to enhance software quality, and documenting results to communicate defects effectively. The role also includes automating continuous security and performance testing as part of a DevOps pipeline, providing an opportunity to enhance coding skills using open-source tools like Selenium WebDriver and Postman.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute test plans and test cases based on user stories.
  • Perform automated and manual testing to evaluate software performance.
  • Document test results and communicate defects to the development team.
  • Automate continuous security and performance testing within a DevOps pipeline.
  • Mentor junior QA team members as needed.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a technical equivalent, or 10 years of experience in lieu of education (20 years total).
  • 5+ years of experience developing test scripts, test cases, and test plans aligned with BDD/TDD for front-end applications.
  • Experience with integration and API testing, test methodologies, QA processes, and the software release cycle.
  • 5+ years of experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to apply appropriate test methodologies, including writing test plans and test cases.
  • 5+ years of experience with test automation tools, open source, and COTS test automation frameworks, including Postman, Bruno, and ReadyAPI.
  • Ability to obtain VA Public Trust-Background Investigation clearance.

  • Experience working for the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Experience managing a team of junior QA's.

Benefits

  • Compensation of $120,000-$130,000 annually, commensurate on experience and education.
