About the position

The Lead Backend Java Developer/Architect position focuses on designing and developing backend solutions using Java and AWS technologies. The role requires extensive experience in application architecture, particularly in migrating MQ applications to AWS, and involves leading a team in the development of proof of concept projects. The position is primarily remote with occasional onsite requirements in Reston, VA.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and design of backend applications using Java and AWS.
• Migrate MQ applications to AWS, ensuring a smooth transition and integration.
• Develop proof of concept projects to validate architectural decisions.
• Utilize AWS services such as EventBridge, Lambda, and EKS in application development.
• Monitor application performance using tools like Datadog or Cloudwatch.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software design and hands-on development experience.
• 2 years of team lead experience.
• 3 years of experience with AWS services.
• Strong knowledge of Java, Spring Framework, Spring Integration, and Microservices.
• Experience with IBM MQ or MS MQ.

Nice-to-haves

• Healthcare experience is a plus.
