About the position

The Lead Behavioral Health Clinician at Family Counseling Associates, part of the Optum family, plays a crucial role in transforming behavioral health care delivery. This position involves treating a diverse range of mental health conditions through various therapeutic methods, including individual and group therapy, medication management, and intensive outpatient programs. The clinician will also contribute to the training of graduate students and work collaboratively with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outpatient psychiatric evaluations and provide ongoing medication management.
  • Participate in enriching the training experience of our graduate students.
  • Screen and assess patients for common mental health and substance abuse disorders.
  • Provide treatment for a variety of mental health conditions using treatment approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and other evidence-based methods.
  • Systematically track treatment response and monitor patients for changes in clinical symptoms and treatment side effects or complications.
  • Review the work of others and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop innovative approaches and authorize deviations from standards.
  • Serve as an expert and provide explanations/information to others on complex/critical issues.
  • Motivate and inspire other team members and serve as a leader/mentor.
  • Form excellent provider-patient alliances and coordinate care with external providers.
  • Represent the practice in community presentations and lectures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (Athena) and clinical documentation, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, or a related counseling field.
  • Clear, active and unrestricted license (Independent license/unrestricted Full LCSW, LISW) in the state of practice.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years professional social work/clinical experience post Master's degree.
  • Experience providing direct psychotherapy services to individuals and families.
  • Experience working with computers for professional communication and medical documentation - Excel, Outlook, Athena RMS (or other EHRs).
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with equal effectiveness.
