About the position

The Lead Big Data Software Engineering position at AT&T is a senior-level role that requires extensive experience in developing high-performance, distributed computing tasks using Big Data technologies. The position operates within Public Cloud environments, particularly MS Azure, and involves working with both structured and unstructured data. The candidate will utilize AI technology solutioning platforms like Databricks, Data Warehouses such as Snowflake, and Data Lake Services like ADLSg2. The role requires a deep understanding of how data needs to be converted, loaded, and presented, necessitating interaction with data scientists and industry experts. The work environment is highly agile, and the candidate will be expected to write code, complete programming and documentation, and perform testing and debugging of applications. This position is critical for developing software enhancements and new products used in large-scale analytics and visualization solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-performance, distributed computing tasks using Big Data technologies.

  • Analyze, design, program, debug, and modify software enhancements and/or new products used in distributed, large scale analytics and visualization solutions.
  • Interact with data scientists and industry experts to understand data conversion, loading, and presentation needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, or Scientific Computing preferred.
  • 5-8 years of experience in Big Data technologies and software engineering.
  • Deep technical knowledge and subject matter expertise in AT&T technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with JVM-based functional languages including Scala and Clojure.
  • Experience with Hadoop query languages including Pig, Hive, Scalding, Cascalog, and PyCascading.
  • Knowledge of alternative HDFS-based computing frameworks including Spark and STORM.
  • Expertise in Python programming and JavaScript Data Visualization.
