About the position

The Lead Brand Creative position at Mattel involves leading the art direction and creative strategy for the Barbie Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) team. This role focuses on video and photo production for social media platforms, particularly TikTok and Instagram, while ensuring that all creative outputs align with brand objectives and marketing strategies. The Lead Art Director will oversee various doll productions, from concept development to post-production, and will collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver compelling storytelling and innovative visual content.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on-set production and art direction, delivering best-in-class concepts and assets from pre-production to post.
  • Ideate and oversee content from concept through final delivery for video and photoshoots.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to translate campaign vision into creative design solutions.
  • Create social media content specifically for Instagram and TikTok, addressing e-commerce business challenges through impactful design.
  • Lead the conceptualization and development of big ideas that are on-brand and on-trend across multiple marketing communications.
  • Art direct and lead creative resources both inside and outside the company.
  • Maintain ownership of work from concept through final delivery, ensuring alignment with supervisors.
  • Mentor and train IMC Barbie team members and junior/new stylists.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Art Direction, Graphic Design, or a similar field.
  • Proven experience in video production and creating social media content for platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
  • Strong conceptual skills and ability to lead creative direction for video production.
  • Experience in a design firm or agency as an Art Director is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in Adobe Suite and relevant software for content creation.
