About the position
The Associate, Structural Engineering position at L3Harris involves supporting the development of military communications applications through embedded software engineering. The role focuses on circuit board bringup, device tree configuration, and low-level debugging of driver and kernel code, while also mentoring less experienced engineers and leading projects.
Responsibilities
- Support existing, new, and next generation military communications applications.
- Circuit board bringup, device tree configuration, and low-level debug of driver and kernel code.
- Act as a resource and mentor to embedded software engineers with less experience.
- Lead projects, develop and manage schedules, and provide responses and bids to proposals.
- Derive software requirements, create designs, and add features to current designs.
- Develop applications to implement specific requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience, or 13 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience in embedded Linux software development.
- Significant C++ experience.

- Low level software/hardware integration
- Configuring and patching U-boot and Linux for an embedded system
- Configuring the root file system for an embedded system
- Linux device trees
- Linux boot process on an embedded system
- BASH scripting
