The Lead Business Consultant at Caterpillar, Inc. plays a crucial role in providing technology solutions within the Resource Industries segment. This position focuses on aligning business opportunities with technology applications, ensuring effective planning and execution. The consultant fosters relationships with clients, vendors, and partners while managing a portfolio of projects, overseeing budgets, mitigating risks, and ensuring effective communication across all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic roadmap planning and overseeing the implementation of that plan/roadmap.
  • Leading and guiding technical leads and project managers.
  • Engaging with stakeholders who could be affected by the program.
  • Planning and overseeing a project's budget, SOWs, and adherence to SLAs.
  • Mitigating compliance and security risks associated with vendor relationships.
  • Regularly reviewing vendor performance, compliance, budget, invoicing, and KPIs.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of problem-solving approaches, tools, and techniques for organizational, operational, or process issues.
  • Knowledge of requirement analysis tools, methods, and techniques to ensure project success.
  • Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches and ability to resolve technical issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience with vendor management.
  • Experience creating, revising, and meeting metrics around SLAs and SOWs.
  • Experience acting as a team lead providing direction and mentoring teams.
