About the position

The Lead Career Coach in the College of Environmental Studies (ENV) will support the campus-wide career readiness initiative by building strong relationships with various functional areas necessary for career and professional readiness. This includes collaboration with FYE faculty, the ENV Student Success Center, employers, alumni, and event coordinators. The role involves closely supporting the dean, faculty, and staff in ENV regarding the career readiness of their students, developing and implementing training that integrates career education into curricula and co-curricular activities. The Lead Career Coach will also recommend hiring, developing, and training additional ENV career team members to support a comprehensive career-readiness model. The position requires setting strategies for industry-aligned career development services, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations of the ENV career readiness model, and collaborating with other College Lead Career Coaches to develop innovative approaches and implement best practices. Additionally, the Lead Career Coach will design assessment activities to measure outcomes and present data to faculty and staff to enhance student career engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy assessment activities to measure outcomes and impact.
  • Present data and metrics to ENV faculty and staff to enhance student career engagement.
  • Lead programs and services providing personalized career counseling and advising.
  • Develop events such as lectures, workshops, and conferences.
  • Build students' career confidence and social capital through strategic programming.
  • Conduct presentations on career-related topics for students and organizations.
  • Oversee event logistics and assist in marketing materials for ENV.
  • Partner with internal/external departments to identify career pathways for students.
  • Cultivate relationships with stakeholders and attend events to stay current on trends.
  • Identify opportunities for connecting students with alumni and industry experts.
  • Enhance employer relationships and increase job and internship opportunities.
  • Support partnerships between ENV and external communities for experiential learning.
  • Perform outreach to alumni and employers for networking and relationship building.
  • Lead evaluation and assessment efforts for the career-ready initiative.
  • Develop evaluation processes with the Career Center Director.
  • Collaborate to develop meaningful outcome measurements for program evaluation.
  • Ensure accurate student reporting in career-related data tracking systems.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field.
  • Upper division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution.
  • Four years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience.
  • Experience in advising students individually and in groups.
  • A master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
  • A doctorate degree may substitute for two years of required professional experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and practices of the program area.
  • General knowledge of Student Services programs and public administration principles.
  • Ability to carry out complex assignments without detailed instructions.
  • Ability to advise students on varied and complex matters.
  • Ability to analyze and solve organizational and operating problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
