About the position

As a Direct Support Professional at Devereux, you will learn more than you ever thought possible while you work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping kids in a Mental Health setting. You will assist in daily living activities, including emotional and behavior support & management, health and hygiene management, cleaning, and recreational activities for the individuals we serve. You will actively mentor, coach, monitor, re-direct and support our individuals and maintain a safe and therapeutic treatment environment that meets the physical, emotional and personal needs of the population we serve. You will also be responsible for accurate documentation, including, but not limited to, shift reports, incident reports and individual progress reports.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in daily living activities including emotional and behavior support & management.
  • Manage health and hygiene for individuals.
  • Engage in cleaning and recreational activities.
  • Mentor, coach, monitor, re-direct and support individuals.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic treatment environment.
  • Document shift reports, incident reports, and individual progress reports.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in relevant field.
  • One (1) year of human service experience working with children, adolescents, and adults required.
  • One (1) year previous experience working in a nursing home, long term care facility, home health, or hospital setting preferred.
  • Experience working with Intellectually Developmentally Disabled and Autism populations is a plus.
  • Ability to complete required new hire orientation class.
  • Possess a valid license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with adolescent total care services such as meal preparation, cleaning, medication administration, client hygiene, maintaining home and planning fun client activities.
  • Strong passion for working with and helping children and adolescents with special needs.
