About the position

The Lead Cashier at Ulta Beauty is responsible for ensuring efficient guest transactions and maintaining high standards at the cashwrap area. This role involves training new cashiers, driving loyalty results, and enhancing the guest experience through exceptional service and product recommendations. The Lead Cashier collaborates with the leadership team to support operational tasks and uphold company policies, while also contributing to a positive and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding the store's goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty, and retail shrink.
  • Ensure that each guest receives exceptional service by providing a guest-friendly environment, greeting and engaging each guest, and personalizing service to their needs.
  • Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
  • Pair guests with associates for makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to enhance the guest service experience.
  • Book appointments for services and in-store events to deliver an unrivaled guest experience while achieving sales goals.
  • Maintain the organization and cleanliness of all cashwrap displays and supplies to ensure guest-readiness.
  • Support the leadership team with cashier chat ins and outs and associate exit inspections as needed.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
  • Assist in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates in cashiering.
  • Engage and influence peers to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Drive cashier accountability in delivering an exceptional Ulta Beauty brand experience.
  • Participate in ongoing training for continuous professional development.

Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • 2 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and passion for guest service and competency in selling.
  • Experience addressing guest concerns and questions promptly and professionally.
  • Demonstrated experience in exceeding sales goals and training new hires.
  • Proficient with basic technology (e.g., Point of Sale system and Apple devices).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Ability to react under pressure and use good judgment in ambiguous situations.
