Lead Caster Operator

About the position

The Lead Caster Operator at Nucor is responsible for ensuring safety and efficiency in the melting and casting operations. This role involves overseeing the production process to meet capacity demands and quality standards, leading the casting team, and managing projects aimed at improving operations. The position requires a strong focus on safety, effective communication, and teamwork, as well as the ability to handle maintenance tasks and work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Create a focus on safety for the entire NYS team.
• Support the direction of melting and casting operations.
• Oversee the production process to ensure capacity demands and quality standards are met.
• Help the casting team develop and manage projects that improve casting operations.
• Lead the team in conducting reactive and preventive maintenance of equipment.

Requirements

• 3 years of melting and casting experience.
• Strong leadership presence and courage to address critical alignment issues.
• Excellent communication skills to ensure understanding among team members.
• Ability to work as part of a coordinated effort with others.
• Good judgment and decision-making skills regarding production processes.
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control.
