About the position

The Lead Center Store position at SpartanNash is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a retail department, ensuring that associates are trained, the department is fully staffed, and that all company standards and performance indicators are met. This role involves inventory management, team leadership, and adherence to food safety and operational guidelines, contributing to the overall success of the store.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day activities of department operations in a retail store.
  • Order and maintain inventory, ensuring product freshness and quality.
  • Review and validate received orders for quality and condition.
  • Manage a team for stocking, production, and product quality tasks.
  • Maintain familiarity with all products in the department and store.
  • Communicate and execute weekly and period Flight Plans to company expectations.
  • Support department manager in scheduling, labor control, and payroll management.
  • Implement company core values and competencies in daily operations.
  • Assist in staffing, training, and performance management of associates.
  • Develop and monitor department goals and forecasts.
  • Participate in daily huddles and manager meetings as required.
  • Maintain a clean and well-stocked department following company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and safety guidelines.
  • Perform daily cycle counts and monitor shelf cleaning programs.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED) required.
  • 0-2 years of retail experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organization, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities in a hands-on environment.
  • Good knowledge of retail store operations and management systems.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable.
