About the position

Longhorn Village is a Texas born and bred not-for-profit retirement community that guarantees independent living for our residents, plus a full continuum of on-site care that includes assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation. We are seeking a candidate with a strong positive attitude toward customer service to act as a Janitor for our resident facilities. This person will have a genuine interest in geriatric care and be able to motivate while maintaining relationships with staff and residents. The right candidate will always strive to do the best job possible, to be creative, and to work towards accomplishing facility goals. The purpose of this position is to foster relationships with residents, residents' families, and nursing staff to achieve the highest quality of care within our community. The Lead CNA is a support to Certified Nurse Aids while ensuring compassion and personalized needs are met for our residents.

Responsibilities

  • Providing clinical leadership and supervision to a team of Certified Nurse Aids
  • Initiating and leading team conferences before, during, and or after shifts
  • Assigning tasks to team members and monitoring progress
  • Communicating clear instructions and managing day-to-day duties
  • Creating and distributing reports to update the Nurse Management on the team's progress
  • Supporting and guiding newly hired certified nurse aids throughout the first year of hire
  • Routine checks on high quality care to meet individual plan of cares for residents

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months as a CNA
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A passion to ignite others in providing compassionate quality of care
  • Minimum current State of Texas Nurse Assistant Certification
  • One year of experience working as a Certified Nurse Assistant including some medical/surgical experience and awareness of the needs of geriatric residents
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret human service periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports and effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to calculate figures related to amounts such as percentages and area
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
