Ecolab is seeking a Lead Chemical Engineer for the Modeling Center of Excellence, a role that reports directly to the Sr. Director of the Equipment, Modeling and Connected Solutions team within the Research, Development and Engineering group. This position is primarily focused on supporting the Industrial business unit, with plans for expansion to all business units within Ecolab, a globally diversified technology and service company. The Lead Chemical Engineer will face a dynamic, challenging, and varied work environment, where they will be tasked with creating tools that empower Ecolab's field sales force and customers, driving the democratization of knowledge, process improvements, and customer insights. The role demands strong technical skills, particularly the ability to quickly understand industrial processes and chemistries, and to formulate appropriate modeling solutions using various mathematical techniques. Effective communication and interaction with technical and leadership associates across multiple levels of the organization are essential. The candidate must also possess a strong ability to coordinate and collaborate with remote resources and teams, simplifying complex concepts for effective communication and model implementation. Key responsibilities include collaborating with project owners, researchers, and the commercial digital solutions team to define requirements for new product offerings, as well as working with the data science and software teams on AI models. The Lead Chemical Engineer will develop models for the application and performance of Ecolab chemistries and customer assets, while also gaining subject matter expertise in water treatment unit operations, water chemistry, and treatment chemicals. Coordination with technical associates in various global locations is crucial to ensure that new models align with business needs, and the candidate will be responsible for communicating issues, concerns, and progress on projects to maintain alignment between stakeholders and senior management.
