About the position

As a Lead Chemical Engineer at Nike, you will be part of the Footwear Supply Chain Manufacturing Engineering team, focusing on delivering excellence in product development and manufacturing processes. This role involves collaboration with various teams globally, including Product Creation, Materials Supply Chain, and Manufacturing Engineering, to ensure the highest performance of Nike's innovative footwear while achieving sustainability goals.

Responsibilities

  • Partner and guide stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and select the right chemicals, compounds, and materials for Nike's footwear development and manufacturing.
  • Apply design of experiment methodology with solid data analysis to resolve development and manufacturing issues.
  • Act as a functional expert in bottom component technology, collaborating with product creation and innovation teams to identify and alleviate potential manufacturing issues.
  • Leverage influencing and project management skills to progress key strategic initiatives, providing solutions in ambiguous circumstances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, or training.
  • Minimum of 3 years of directly relevant work experience.
  • Preferred experience in footwear or related industries such as tires, polyurethane, or plastics manufacturing.
  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-experts.
  • Proficient in standard MS Office programs and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
