About the position

The Lead Chemical Process Engineer at Tremco Construction Products Group plays a crucial role in ensuring safety, maintaining product quality, and enhancing process efficiency within a chemical production environment. This position is integral to the company's operations, which span across multiple manufacturing facilities and distribution sites in North America. The engineer will be actively involved in on-floor operations, promoting a LEAN culture, and leading significant projects related to process equipment. In this role, the engineer will strategize and innovate safety management practices, collaborating closely with shift supervisors to resolve high-level safety issues. They will lead comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and Job Safety Analyses (JSA), identifying and mitigating complex safety concerns. The engineer will also expertly manage DAKOTA software for compliance, incident reporting, and safety management, ensuring that all safety protocols are adhered to. Additionally, the Lead Chemical Process Engineer will champion the development and implementation of "standard work" practices, oversee Engineering Tier activities, and lead daily GEMBA Walks to enhance education and communication within the team. They will drive productivity improvements by eliminating non-value-added activities through advanced engineering principles and ensure equipment efficiency at the highest levels. Participation in the facility's Quality Improvement Council (QIC) is also a key responsibility, where the engineer will lead initiatives to identify root causes of issues and prevent future customer complaints. The engineer will manage large-scale projects with substantial budgets and serve as a senior mentor to less experienced engineers, guiding them through complex projects and supporting their career development. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to fostering a safe and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience.
