About the position

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Technical Lead to join our Transportation Projects team at a top-rated Civil & Environmental Engineering firm. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to apply their expertise in Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), design grading, budgeting, and technical project management. The Lead Civil Engineer will play a key role in shaping the future of our city's transportation network, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standard of quality. In this role, you will lead and manage a team of engineers and technicians in the design and construction of transportation infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for developing and managing project budgets, schedules, and resources, while coordinating with other departments, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution. Conducting site inspections and assessments to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards will also be a critical part of your responsibilities. As a Technical Lead, you will provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, preparing and presenting project updates and reports to senior management and stakeholders. Staying up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to transportation engineering will be essential to your success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers and technicians in the design and construction of transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Use expertise in DOT, CAD, design grading, and technical project management to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standard of quality.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources.
  • Coordinate with other departments, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; a Master's degree or Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on transportation projects.
  • Proven expertise in DOT, CAD, design grading, budgeting, and technical project management.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software and tools.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to transportation engineering.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
