About the position

The Lead Civil Structural Engineer will provide leadership in civil and structural engineering for a new natural gas pipeline project in Houston or Beaumont, TX. This role involves overseeing the development and execution of various civil and structural activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and acting as the primary contact for engineering contractors. The engineer will manage project development from design to commissioning, addressing technical issues and ensuring timely completion within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Civil and Structural Engineering Leadership for a new natural gas pipeline project.
  • Support the development and execution of Civil/Structural activities including plot plans, piping plans, and foundation details.
  • Participate in the development and review of all Civil and Structural design deliverables.
  • Prepare and evaluate bid packages and interact with engineering, operation, and fabrication disciplines.
  • Provide technical support to all aspects of the project and act as the primary point of contact with engineering contractors.
  • Perform complex technical and administrative tasks related to the design and coordination of civil & structural packages.
  • Review and provide input to the design of civil/structural packages that comply with Operator standards and specifications.
  • Manage Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Contractors to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion of Civil/Structural activities.
  • Conduct basic project economic evaluations including cost estimating and project scheduling.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4-year accredited degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 10 years of oil and gas industry experience including US Gulf Coast projects.
  • Expert knowledge of common engineering practices and industrial codes including API, ASCE, ACI, and AISC.
  • Knowledge of Natural Gas Pipeline Engineering and Construction codes and standards.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to tackle project challenges.

Nice-to-haves

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in TX is strongly preferred but not mandatory.
  • Previous lead/supervisory experience.
