About the position

The Lead Clinical Cardiac Test Exercise Physiologist at Franciscan Health is responsible for overseeing patient care related to cardiac testing, ensuring accurate documentation, and collaborating with physicians to provide comprehensive care. This role involves conducting initial assessments, performing diagnostic tests, and managing patient monitoring while adhering to safety protocols. The position also includes responsibilities in people management and performance management within the unit.

Responsibilities

  • Document patient care information and ensure timely and accurate completion of patient care records.
  • Communicate with appropriate personnel regarding abnormal findings and patient progress.
  • Conduct pre-test screening with thorough chart review to gather relevant medical history and identify contraindications.
  • Collaborate with physicians to accommodate preferences in testing procedures and protocols.
  • Interview patients and provide education on cardiac testing.
  • Complete pre-test assessment of vitals including heart rate, rhythm, blood pressure, and symptoms.
  • Start IVs and administer medication intravenously under physician direction.
  • Respond to adverse side effects and assist the physician in medical emergencies as per ACLS protocol.
  • Adhere to nuclear medicine safety measures during nuclear cardiac procedures.
  • Interpret 12 lead EKGs and recognize critical conditions such as segment elevation/depression and life-threatening arrhythmias.
  • Perform standard resting electrocardiograms and apply holter and cardiac event monitoring systems.
  • Instruct patients on monitoring and ensure follow-up with the physician.
  • Provide input in people management activities such as performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Manage day-to-day operations for designated practice areas or disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in Physical Medicine/Rehabilitation.
  • Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Valid Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
