About the position

As a Lead Clinical Medical Content Editor at Alight, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the quality and accuracy of medical content that is essential for healthcare providers and patients. Your primary responsibility will be to develop, maintain, and review proprietary medical information for online publication, ensuring that the content is not only accurate but also accessible and engaging for a diverse audience. You will collaborate with various teams to drive innovation at MDGuidelines, a leading provider of medical information dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes through reliable content. This position requires a strong background in clinical medicine and medical writing, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively. In this role, you will be tasked with researching and authoring original medical content across various topics, updating existing materials with the latest diagnostic and medical procedures, and verifying the accuracy of medical references. You will also be responsible for writing clear and concise prose that caters to lay readers, nurses, and physicians alike. Your work will undergo collaborative peer review, and you will be expected to respond constructively to feedback to enhance the clarity and accessibility of the information provided. Additionally, you will manage contractors, overseeing budgets and invoicing, while leading special content development projects that support product development initiatives. Achieving productivity by meeting deadlines and departmental goals will be crucial, as will your ability to assist in shaping and tracking delivery schedules. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely, allowing you to balance your professional and personal life effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and review proprietary medical information for online publication.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop new content and suggest organizational improvements.
  • Research and author original medical content for various topics.
  • Update existing topics with new diagnostic and medical procedures, ensuring accuracy.
  • Verify and update descriptions of medical conditions and procedures.
  • Ensure medical references are current and authoritative.
  • Write highly readable prose for lay readers, nurses, and physicians.
  • Submit work for collaborative peer review and respond to feedback.
  • Review and improve the clarity, accuracy, and accessibility of information.
  • Manage contractors, including budget and invoicing.
  • Identify and correct omissions or errors in data.
  • Lead special content development projects and support product development initiatives.
  • Achieve productivity by meeting deadlines and departmental goals.
  • Assist in shaping, managing, and tracking delivery schedules.
  • Collaborate with and oversee the work of Medical Advisory Board members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Clinician experience with medical writing skills.
  • Excellent medical writing skills.
  • Working knowledge of evidence-based medicine.
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in communications or medical studies.
  • Competence in medical knowledge and English exposition.
  • Demonstrable writing/editing skills in medical discourse.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in online publishing is an advantage.
  • Ability to manage remote contractors.
  • Working knowledge of drug and formulary content.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple priorities successfully.
