About the position

The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer / Sr. Cloud Engineer to join our National Integration Services (NIS) team. This position is pivotal in advancing our mission to enhance the nation's monetary, financial, and payment systems. As part of a diverse and community-engaged bank, you will be responsible for innovating, designing, and selecting new technologies that support our integration engineering initiatives. The role offers a flexible hybrid work model, allowing you to collaborate with colleagues in the office while also providing the option to work from home. In this role, you will develop and maintain integration services utilizing AWS Transfer services, including SFTP, FTPS, FTP, and AS2 protocols. You will set up AWS Lambda runtimes and engage in Python programming, while also configuring and managing AWS Commercial and GovCloud services such as EC2, security groups, IAM roles & policies, load balancers, and Route 53. Your responsibilities will include providing production support, establishing integration architecture guidelines, and ensuring compliance with Bank security policies. You will also be involved in end-to-end support for solution integration, which encompasses designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting solutions. As a Lead Cloud Engineer, you will lead efforts to define and maintain integration architecture standards across multiple product teams as they transition to the cloud. You will participate in defect and incident root cause analyses and guide solution decisions related to various integration technologies. Additionally, you will train solution teams on the latest trends and technologies, ensuring that our integration services remain at the forefront of innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Own the innovation, design, and selection of new technologies in support of business and FRBSF integration engineering initiatives and priorities.
  • Develop and maintain integration services using AWS Transfer (family using SFTP, FTPS, FTP, and AS2 protocols).
  • Setup AWS Lambda runtimes and engage in Python programming.
  • Configure and manage AWS Commercial and GovCloud services, including EC2, security groups, IAM roles & policies, load balancers, and Route 53.
  • Provide production support including on-call rotation.
  • Establish the environment and instance strategy for integration platform environments.
  • Lead efforts to establish, define, maintain, and communicate integration architecture guidelines, principles, standards, and best practices across multiple product teams as they migrate to the cloud.
  • Provide end-to-end support for solution integration, including designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting solutions.
  • Support integration service release management activities.
  • Participate in defect and incident root cause analyses.
  • Define standards to guide solution decisions in relation to multiple integration technologies.
  • Build solutions in accordance with Bank security policies that mitigate risk and increase efficiencies.
  • Train solution teams on the latest trends and technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Systems Analysis, or equivalent work experience.
  • For Sr. Cloud Engineer: Five or more years of technical experience with all aspects of an integration product from design through development, testing, implementation, and production.
  • For Lead Cloud Engineer: Seven or more years of technical experience with all aspects of an integration product from design through development, testing, implementation, and production.
  • Strong working knowledge of AWS Transfer family and corresponding architecture at the level of a subject matter expert.
  • Experience with AWS Lambda runtimes, Python programming, security groups, IAM roles & policies, load balancers, and Route 53.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform and GitLab pipelines.
  • Strong knowledge of high-availability, load-balancing, and failover configurations across application, infrastructure, and platform components.
  • Ability to coordinate and work with diverse groups.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Green Card holder with intent to be a U.S. Citizen.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with IBM Sterling File Gateway with implementations demonstrating both On-Prem servers and AWS EC2's.
  • Experience with IBM Secure Proxy, Axway Secure Transport, Connect Direct, Sterling Control Center.
