About the position

The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer who will be responsible for the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of cloud systems. This includes managing virtual hardware, SaaS solutions, operating systems, and related cloud infrastructure. The role is crucial in supporting the company's cloud infrastructure and ensuring that all systems and related procedures adhere to organizational standards. The Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will research, identify, select, and test technology products required for solution delivery, particularly in relation to IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and on-premises solutions. In this position, the engineer will establish, implement, and document technology integration or migration strategies. They will define system components according to suitable cost-benefit specifications, viable technology, and user domain experience. Conducting usability tests to verify user experience and ensuring that all high-level requirements are met is also a key responsibility. The engineer will remain current on industry trends and new technologies for cloud architecture, assess potential impacts to affected systems and processes, and provide recommendations for requirements and/or design changes. Regular collaboration with developers, analysts, systems engineers, and users regarding current and prospective systems changes and future needs is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Research, identify, select, and test technology products required for solution delivery related to IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and on-premises solutions.

  • Assess potential impacts to affected systems and processes, and provide recommendations for requirements and/or design changes.
  • Regularly confer with developers, analysts, systems engineers, and users regarding current and prospective systems changes and future needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or equivalent in education and work experience.
  • 8+ years of related experience.
  • Ability to work on complex, technical projects or business issues requiring extensive industry knowledge.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, using initiative to anticipate needs in area of responsibility.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong experience with cloud backup methodologies, with Azure Backup preferred.
  • Experience with cloud storage, including Azure Files, NFS, shared access keys, and permissions.
  • Extensive experience in managing applications on AWS.
  • Experience in building CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Strong background in deployment management tools.
