About the position

The Lead Cloud Network Security Engineer spearheads complex IT initiatives, focusing on the design, implementation, maintenance, and triaging of enterprise network security infrastructure and services. This role requires a proactive approach to guide a small team of engineers, influencing their contributions while also working independently. The Lead Engineer will collaborate closely with IT leadership to deliver engineering roadmap initiatives, driving continuous improvement and maturity within the organization. In addition to leading the team, the Lead Cloud Network Security Engineer and their team are responsible for creating and maintaining architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures, and other support documentation relevant to their functional areas. Participation in an on-call rotation is expected, along with the completion of planned service-impacting activities outside of normal business hours, adhering to established change management processes. Some travel may be required for this position, emphasizing the need for flexibility and adaptability in various situations.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small group of engineers, developing the engineering roadmap, defining workstreams, and delegating tasks.
• Plan, design, deploy, and mature network infrastructure, services, and processes to meet business needs.
• Deliver annual OKRs & KPIs for service availability, capacity, and performance management.
• Provide escalation-level support to incident, problem, and change management processes.
• Collaborate with IT Governance during assessments and audits, providing evidence to support the control framework.
• Procure and evaluate bleeding-edge technology solutions and present recommendations.
• Lead complex IT projects such as greenfield/brownfield deployments, vendor to vendor migrations, and mergers & acquisitions.
• Drive standardization, reduce needless complexity, and challenge convention.
• Create and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation.
• Conduct ongoing proactive maintenance of network infrastructure & services.
• Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing, and maturity.
• Participate in operational support 24x7 on-call rotation as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
• 9+ years of Enterprise IT experience with evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Proven leadership, organization, and mentorship skills with demonstrable experience.
• Professional-level certifications with Azure, AWS, Cisco, Palo Alto, etc.
• Extensive cloud network security experience within Microsoft Azure.
• In-depth experience with Palo Alto, Cisco Firepower next-gen firewalls.
• In-depth experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
• In-depth experience with Forcepoint ONE SWG or similar.
• In-depth experience with Cloudflare CDN.
• Expert knowledge of enterprise networking, IP routing, packet switching, data flow analysis, etc.
• Extensive experience supporting mission-critical, highly regulated networks within finance or healthcare.
• Extensive experience supporting security frameworks & controls for FFIEC, PCI, SOX, CIS, NIST, ISO, etc.
• Extensive experience supporting solution architecture design within IT & business projects.
• Extensive experience operating within an ITIL ITSM organization with a background using ServiceNow.
• Extensive experience with diagramming software e.g., Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart.
• Experience using tools such as SolarWinds, Netbrain, LiveAction, ThousandEyes, AppDynamics, ELK, etc.
• Excellent communication skills, directly interfacing with IT leadership, business stakeholders, and technical teams.
• Experience scripting in Python or PowerShell.
