About the position

As a Lead Compensation Partner at X, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's global compensation framework, which is essential for attracting and retaining top talent. Your primary responsibility will be to assess the current compensation landscape across the organization, ensuring that our compensation programs are not only competitive but also transparent and effective in supporting our workforce. This role is integral to the People Org team, and your contributions will significantly influence X's overall success in the tech industry. In this position, you will evaluate the compensation benchmarks that X should adopt, focusing on cost-effectiveness while ensuring that our compensation bands remain competitive with other technology organizations. You will be tasked with building and implementing new compensation ranges, which will include both cash and equity components. Additionally, you will establish and architect X's compensation philosophy and design, leading internal compensation analysis across various functions, from technology to sales. Your role will also involve leading X's internal compensation review process, working cross-functionally with other People Team leads on various people programs such as performance evaluations, total rewards assessments, and retention strategies. You will evaluate job levels and frameworks to ensure that each employee is correctly classified for compensation benchmarking. Furthermore, you will conduct compensation audits and analyses to maintain internal equity and fairness within the organization. As a mentor, you will train other team members and provide insights and guidance on compensation matters, fostering a culture of transparency and fairness in compensation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assess X's current compensation landscape including total compensation across the organization
  • Evaluate which compensation benchmarks X should use that are cost effective, but impactful for ensuring our compensation bands are competitive relative to other technology organizations
  • Build and implement new compensation ranges for X, including both cash and equity ranges
  • Establish and architect X's compensation philosophy and design
  • Lead internal compensation analysis across all functions from technology to sales
  • Lead X's internal compensation review process
  • Work cross functionally with the other People Team leads on people programs such as performance evaluations, calibrations, total rewards assessments, retention, and more
  • Evaluate job levels and framework to ensure each employee is in the correct job profile for compensation benchmarking
  • Lead compensation audits and analysis to ensure internal equity and fairness
  • Mentor and train other members of the team and provide insight and guidance on compensation matters

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of proven experience in compensation roles
  • Outstanding skills in Excel and ability to present recommendations in a clear, digestible manner
  • Excellent communication skills to convey ideas and input
  • Experience in Workday and Tableau preferred

  • Strong analytical mind that can look at problems from several angles and provide confident recommendations and solutions
  • Good knowledge of market trends and data, and how to leverage them
  • Ability to work with lean resources and in a scrappy, startup environment
  • Experience building compensation programs from the ground up and successfully implementing them
