About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Compliance Officer to join the Enterprise Compliance Operations Team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the controls around the electronic communication attestation process across the enterprise. This position requires a strong understanding of compliance risk management and the ability to provide oversight and monitoring of business group risk-based compliance programs. You will maintain compliance risk expertise and offer consulting for projects and initiatives that carry moderate to high risk across multiple business lines. Your responsibilities will include establishing, implementing, and maintaining risk standards and programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, agency, legal, regulatory, and Corporate Policy requirements. You will oversee the execution of compliance-related decisions by the Front Line and provide independent credible challenges to standards based on your subject matter expertise. Additionally, you will guide the business in developing corrective action plans and effectively managing regulatory changes. As a Lead Compliance Officer, you will report findings and make recommendations to management and appropriate committees, while also identifying opportunities for process improvement and risk control development. You will monitor the reporting, escalation, and timely remediation of issues, deficiencies, or regulatory matters regarding compliance risk management. Your role will involve making decisions and resolving issues to meet business objectives, interpreting policies, procedures, and compliance requirements, and collaborating with peers, colleagues, and managers to achieve goals. You will work with complex business units and navigate rules and regulations on moderate to high-risk compliance matters, interfacing with Audit, Legal, external agencies, and regulatory bodies on risk-related topics. This position offers a hybrid work schedule, and you will be expected to work on-site at the stated location.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and monitoring of business group risk-based compliance programs.
  • Maintain compliance risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with moderate to high risk, over multiple business lines.
  • Establish, implement and maintain risk standards and programs to drive compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory and Corporate Policy requirements.
  • Oversee the Front Line's execution and challenges appropriately on compliance related decisions.
  • Develop, oversee, and provide independent credible challenge to standards with subject matter expertise.
  • Provide direction to the business on developing corrective action plans and effectively managing regulatory change.
  • Report findings and make recommendations to management and appropriate committees.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Compliance experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • 2+ years knowledge and understanding of Institutional or retail broker dealer experience.
  • 1 year experience working with technology teams, to develop or update applications to meet business requirements.
  • 1 year experience drafting Desktop procedures and/or Control documentation.
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in business, accounting, finance, or economics.
  • 6+ months testing or self-assurance activities experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in drafting compliance-related documentation.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks and standards.
