About the position

The Robotics Department is seeking a highly skilled individual to lead research initiatives in automated and autonomous vehicles and manufacturing robotics. This role involves identifying new research directions, proposing and leading internal programs, mentoring colleagues, and exploring new applications and clients for automation technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and test advanced robotic technologies such as localization, navigation, mapping, path/trajectory planning, perception, and modeling and simulation.
  • Develop and implement the research direction and strategy of the Robotics Department.
  • Stay updated with the state of the art and industry trends through conferences and publications.
  • Write proposals to secure internal and external funding for robotics and automation research.
  • Create tools and techniques to enhance research and development velocity and capability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Robotics, Mechatronics, Controls, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8-18 years of industry, academic, or government research experience in autonomous/automated vehicles or robotics in unmanned ground (UGV), air (UAS), sea (USV or UUV), or manufacturing robotics domains.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong software and software engineering skills, preferably in C++/Python.
  • 1+ years of business development and/or proposal writing experience.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.
