About the position

The Lead Construction Supervisor (LCS) at PSEG is responsible for overseeing the construction of major capital projects related to substations, transmission, and distribution systems. This role ensures that all work is performed in compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and local laws. The LCS plays a critical role in managing the workforce, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and maintaining project schedules while addressing any issues that arise during construction.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise construction to ensure compliance with PSEGLI and OSHA rules and the project Health and Safety Plan.
  • Respond to safety incidents, perform fact finding, and support the implementation of lessons learned.
  • Perform electrical clearance activities on the transmission and distribution system, including creating and scheduling clearance requests.
  • Interpret transmission, distribution, and substation design drawings and perform constructability reviews of project designs.
  • Supervise construction activities to ensure compliance with project requirements and direct contractors to make necessary corrections.
  • Perform quality assurance inspections to confirm conformance with technical requirements and direct corrective actions as needed.
  • Create daily progress reports to document construction quality and progress.
  • Lead weekly project update meetings to inform stakeholders.
  • Supervise material and equipment testing and coordinate review of testing results.
  • Manage change orders in compliance with contract terms and monitor contract costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field with a minimum of five years of electric utility construction experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to PSEGLI and OSHA safety rules.
  • Ability to perform transmission and distribution switching activities independently.
  • Knowledge to train others in electric construction supervision activities.
  • Supervisory experience and familiarity with Contract Agreements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with NERC regulations and electrical clearance and control rules.
  • Familiarity with construction contracts and the ability to enforce contractor compliance.
