About the position
The Lead Consulting Auditor is a seasoned professional responsible for planning and conducting independent audits to evaluate risks within District programs and activities. This role involves operational, financial, and compliance audits, assessing internal controls, and making recommendations for improvements. The auditor will also participate in fraud investigations and ensure the adequacy of safeguards for information technology assets.
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct independent audits to review, analyze, and evaluate risks.
- Conduct operational, financial, and compliance audits of District programs and activities.
- Appraise the adequacy of internal controls and operational procedures.
- Report ineffective internal controls and recommend corrective actions.
- Participate in investigations of fraud, management negligence, or theft.
- Utilize project management principles to improve audit productivity and effectiveness.
- Compile data and write audit reports aimed at improving operational functions.
- Evaluate procedures for safeguarding assets from theft, fire, and illegal activities.
- Provide audit support to external auditors and perform special investigations.
- Prepare reports with findings and recommendations for executive management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related discipline (Master's preferred).
- 10+ years of experience as a professional auditor, preferably in the public sector.
- Certified Internal Auditor or Certified Public Accountant is required.
- Valid State of Florida Driver License.
