About the position

The Lead Continuous Improvement Engineer for the Ecommerce Lean Team at Ryder System is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives across operations. This role focuses on applying engineering methodologies and lean tools to enhance performance in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth. The engineer will leverage data analytics to identify root causes and implement effective solutions, while also managing CI resources and collaborating with various operational levels.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data and perform statistical analysis to identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and execute a continuous improvement plan to drive value for customers.
  • Manage high-impact continuous improvement projects that lead to improved business results.
  • Support start-ups, retrofits, and expansions, including pricing inputs and certifications.
  • Identify and support automation projects within the operation.
  • Coach employees in the use of continuous improvement and lean principles.
  • Facilitate Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events, ensuring effective execution and follow-up.
  • Provide regular reports on data and actions to measure progress against site objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain and seven years of related experience, or a Master's degree with five years of experience.
  • Lean background and warehouse engineering experience are mandatory.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, PowerBI, and Domo.
  • Strong facilitation, problem-solving, and communication skills are required.
  • Experience in core engineering and data analysis functions, including slotting and labor planning.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of warehouse design tools such as CAD and slotting tools.
  • Experience with transportation design tools and warehouse management systems.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is required; cPMP and ISO/QMS certifications are preferred.
