About the position

Delaware North Sportservice is seeking part-time Lead Cooks to join our dynamic team at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. In this role, you will be a key player in the kitchen, showcasing your culinary skills while also taking on a leadership position. As a Lead Cook, you will collaborate closely with management to plan menus that meet our high standards of quality and presentation. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that all food is prepared to the highest quality standards, training and mentoring kitchen team members, and operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. You will also be responsible for upholding all health codes and sanitation regulations, which are critical in maintaining a safe and clean working environment. In addition to your culinary duties, you will monitor the quantities of food prepared, manage labor costs, and oversee overhead expenses to ensure that the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Review menus and customer orders to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared, ensuring compliance with portion sizes and quality standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstation, coolers, and equipment, ensuring all areas are sanitized and sufficiently stocked.
  • Utilize waste control guidelines and accurately record all waste on the spoilage sheet.
  • Perform opening, closing, and side work duties, including end-of-day inventory, in accordance with established guidelines.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of previous experience in a back-of-the-house foodservice position.
  • Ability to read and comprehend prep sheets and recipes.
  • Basic math skills, with the ability to calculate and follow recipe measurements.
  • No high school diploma or GED required.
