About the position

SAGE Dining Services® is seeking a reliable Lead Cook/Sous Chef for a private school dining hall in Miami, FL. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering competitive hourly wages ranging from $23 to $25. As a Lead Cook/Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all food is appropriately displayed and visually appealing, while also interacting cheerfully with SAGE guests and Team Members, providing service with a smile. You will oversee the preparation of menu items in strict accordance with SAGE recipes, ensuring that all food handling, storage, and sanitation techniques are followed at all times, in compliance with HACCP standards. In this role, you will be responsible for cleaning all work areas, equipment, and guest service areas on an ongoing basis. You will assist with the inventory of food products and developing order sheets, as well as train, motivate, and oversee Cooks and culinary Team Members. Setting a good example each day by being a role model and leader in the kitchen is essential. Additionally, you will need to adapt to additional duties as assigned by management, and endure exposure to extreme temperatures, including intense heat and freezing cold. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Culinary knowledge and cooking experience required.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Experience delegating tasks and following up with Team Members.
  • Capacity to train and motivate others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Culinary degree preferred, but not required.
  • ServSAFE® certification preferred, but not required.
