About the position

The Lead Correspondence Examination Technician position at the Department of the Treasury involves overseeing the distribution and monitoring of workload within the Taxpayer Services Division. This role is crucial for ensuring that work is completed in a timely manner and meets established standards. The technician will also provide training and support to employees, resolve complaints, and perform administrative duties in the absence of the manager.

Responsibilities

  • Distributes, balances, monitors, and reports on workload according to established workflow or job specialization.
  • Ensures equitable distribution of work among employees and timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Amends or rejects work that does not meet established standards and refers issues to the supervisor.
  • Maintains current knowledge of procedures, policies, and directives; answers questions and provides training to employees.
  • Resolves simple informal complaints and refers more complex issues to the supervisor.
  • Performs administrative duties in the absence of the manager.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience at the GS-7 level in the Federal service, including experience with laws, rules, and regulations relevant to tax filing and compliance.
  • Experience interpreting case files to determine necessary actions and adjustments.
  • Familiarity with relevant systems, transaction codes, and procedures necessary for the position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of IRS systems and processes.
