About the position

The Lead Custodial Position at Licking Heights School District is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and operational excellence within school facilities. This role involves training new custodial staff, ensuring uniformity in custodial procedures across the district, and fostering a collaborative team environment. The Lead Custodian will report directly to the Director of Business Operations and play a key role in creating a comfortable educational environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an inventory of supplies and participate in the ordering of supplies and equipment for assigned building.
  • Ensure uniformity of building custodial procedures throughout the district in cooperation with the Director of Business Operations.
  • Attend monthly meetings with other Custodian Leads and Director of Business Operations.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with coworkers, building staff and Director of Business Operations.
  • Provide leadership in creating a team atmosphere with all custodians to accomplish daily tasks.
  • Train new building custodians during appropriate shifts and maintain a cooperative approach within the team.
  • Facilitate communication between all building custodians and the Director of Business Operations.
  • Work with the Director of Business Operations to cover absences and assist with tasks as requested.
  • Ensure new building custodians are trained on submission of work orders and technical issues.
  • Train new building custodians on maintaining clear areas around building exterior doors for fire code compliance.
  • Train new building custodians on proper washing of windows and graffiti removal as necessary.
  • Train new building custodians in performing regular custodial duties in assigned areas.
  • Ensure new building custodians maintain trash receptacles and clean surfaces in restrooms daily.
  • Check daily schedules to provide necessary assistance for curricular and extra-curricular events.
  • Assist visiting members of the public utilizing the facilities.
  • Train new building custodians on maintaining custodial closets in an orderly manner.
  • Train new building custodians in general clean up of incidents as they arise.
  • Train new building custodians in overhead cleaning from elevated surfaces.
  • Train new building custodians in keeping all necessary items clean at all times.
  • Train new building custodians to check daily that all doors and windows are locked/unlocked as needed.
  • Report major repair needs or deficiencies to the Director of Business Operations.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Director of Business Operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three to five years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in working effectively with people.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and lead people.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and painting.
  • Ability to use common hand tools.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
